A Common Snipe was feeding along the edge of the reeds at the left-hand side of the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon and a Little Ringed Plover and a Green Sandpiper were also present on the Slurry. JMD. [...] This afternoon on the Slurry Lagoon there was a Greenshank, a Green Sandpiper and a probable Caspian Gull. Most of the terns had gone with only one present on one of the breeding platforms for part of the afternoon. RW, PS. [...] Two Green Sandpipers were again on the Slurry Lagoon – an adult and a juvenile – resting and feeding. Also feeding along the Slurry edge was a Little Ringed Plover and among the gulls were at least three Yellow-legged Gulls. A new brood of five Tuftie ducklings were the first for the year and again [...] [...] On the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon there were one Little Egret, 43 Common Tern, 102 Lapwing, one Common Sandpiper, two Green Sandpipers, two Yellow-legged Gulls and a Water Rail. RW. [...] On the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon was a Green Sandpiper and five Yellow-legged Gulls. All of the tern chicks have flown from one of the tern platforms and are now also on the Slurry Lagoon. RW. [...] This morning there was a Green Sandpiper, Greenshank, Pintail and two Water Rail on the Slurry Lagoon. A Hobby was seen flying over, carrying prey. Later in the day there were four Water Rail and one Golden Plover and a Hobby hawking insects. At dusk another Greenshank flew in. RW. [...] Three Greenshank were seen at the lagoons today. Also seen were two Curlew, a Green Sandpiper, a Common Sandpiper and two Water Rail. RW. [...] Two Greenshank settled on the Slurry Lagoon this evening, followed by two Green Sandpipers and two juvenile Shelduck. RW. [...] A Clouded Yellow was seen today, flying along the Deep Pit bank, opposite the railway line. Two Small Red-eyed Damselflies were present on the Small Gravel Pit and a Green Sandpiper was seen on the Slurry Lagoon, as well as two Yellow-legged Gulls, a Common Snipe and three Shoveler. [...] |
