Spotted Flycatcher – 22nd August

This morning as we walked along the Lower Path four Jays sneaked into the canopy of the ash trees while a a Buzzard called overhead. There were several immature Reed Warblers, Sedge Warblers, Blackcaps and Whitethroats and a Lesser Whitethroat and Willow Tit in the bushes between the path and the railway line. Near to [...] [...]

Green Sandpiper – 16th August

There were four Green Sandpipers on the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon and a single Dunlin. JMD. A Willow Tit was heard calling along the Lower Path. PS. [...]

Ant Swarm – 8th August

During the Bird Count this morning there was an ant swarm that attracted a flock of over 500 Black-headed Gulls. There were also some Common Terns catching the ants and three Hobbies. Two Curlews stopped briefly on the Slurry Lagoon and a Green Sandpiper was amongst the Lapwings. A Little Egret was on the Large [...] [...]

Black-tailed Godwit – 2nd August

There were three Black-tailed Godwits, five Dunlin, five Yellow-legged Gulls and a Caspian Gull on the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon. Both Roesel’s Bush Crickets and Long-winged Coneheads were found and a Willow Tit was heard along the Lower Path. PS. Pintail – 30th September

On the Lower Path this morning was a Willow Tit, and a Jay later flew over the site. The Pintail was on the Slurry Lagoon and the Cetti’s Warbler could be heard singing from the Causeway. PS. [...]
